Development History of Outlook Scenic Spot Telescopes
Yunnan Yuanjin Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. is the most famous optical instrument factory in China.
For more than decades, we have been developing and producing coin operated telescopes and scenic
spot telescope for outdoor use.
Yunnan Yuanjin Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. started developing column-type outdoor telescopes in the
early 2000s. At that time, the technology was still pure optical telescope lens plus column, mainly single-
tube, without electrical appliances, and everyone could watch for free. For the domestic market at that
time, the successful development of the YJT-column-type telescope was a great joy and pride for the
birth of a new product in the domestic optical industry. However, when it was put on the market, the first
problem arose, mainly outdoors. The optical quality was very good, but it might not withstand wind and
rain all year round, and the main unit would have water ingress problems. Regarding this problem, the
technology was also improved within a year. A coin-operated function was also added later.
Yunnan Yuanjin Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. is researching dual tube coin-operated telescopes while
producing the YJT-1 monocular telescope. One of the binocular coin-operated telescopes is defined by
Yuanjin Optics as the YJT-2 series of scenic spot telescopes, also called the 2-type scenic spot telescopes.
OUTLOOK YJY-2-type scenic spot telescopes have been gradually widely used in domestic and foreign
markets since 2010. And there is a great breakthrough in waterproof performance. The appearance has
also kept up with the times, and the baking paint process has also been improved a lot.
After OUTLOOK YJT-2 series of scenic spot telescopes launched on the market, sales gradually increased.
According to feedback from customers in various aspects, Yuanjin Optics is going to make another move
and want to make a significant improvement in product appearance design, electrical performance, and
overall comprehensive quality. And one thing that must be said is that Yuanjin Optics has been investing
in the research and development of scenic spot telescopes for nearly 10 years. It was during this Type 2
to Type 3 stage that a small number of people in other optical industries began to study this type of
scenic spot telescope products, and most of them ended in failure. Ultimately, there are only one or two
manufacturers producing this type of product, but the apertures they produce are very small (for
example, the objective glass diameter is 70mm). As a viewing telescope, the larger the aperture, the
higher the clarity, the wider the field of view, the more realistic the scenery and the farther the distance.
The smallest aperture of Yuanjin Optics' scenic spot telescope is 100mm and the optical magnification is
25x.
Around 2016-2017, OUTLOOK YJT-3 series type 3 scenic spot telescopes also began to officially enter the
market slowly.Yuanjin type 3 scenic spot telescopes have specifications including 25*100 and 40*100,
and product functions include pure code scanning telescopes, code scanning + coin telescopes, pure
coin operated telescopes, solar code scanning telescopes, solar coin operated telescopes, and free
viewing scenic spot telescopes without electrical appliances. Yuanjin type 3 scenic spot telescopes.
YJT-3M is committed to creating more value with simple operating performance, excellent optical
performance, electrical performance, strong outdoor waterproofing, and stable operation. The product
has strong structural performance, novel design, and high cost-effectiveness. It is currently the most
widely invested and widely used scenic spot telescope in China, and it is also the most exported scenic
spot shared telescope. For example, the coin-operated telescope exported to Lithuania in 2018 is still in
normal use in 2025. The product quality is strong, the after-sales service is worry-free, and the use is
worry-free. At present, the export mainly uses coin-operated function or free viewing function.
Around 2020-2021, Yuanjin Optics produced the YJT-4 scenic spot telescope. The biggest difference
between this 4-type coin operated telescope and the 3-type coin operated telescope is that the 4-type
coin operated telescope has a specification of 30x120, a magnification of 30 times, and a larger aperture of 120mm. When observing targets or scenery, the field of view is wider and the targets are
clearer. Of course, the product cost is also higher.
Around 2023, OUTLOOK launched another scenic spot telescope 25x100 or 40x100 with different
appearance craftsmanship and paint materials, named 5-type YJT-5, which is cheaper than the 3-type
YJT-3 code scanning telescope. The mirror body of the 5-type scenic spot shared telescope adopts
lightless oxidation (cast aluminum cannot do it) to prevent light from scattering in the mirror body and
effectively remove the influence of stray light on optical imaging. The inner wall is sprayed with
dustproof grease, which can effectively absorb dust or impurities in the lens barrel. Beige is natural,
simple and elegant, with a soft and warm tone, fresh, elegant and calm. The metal paint with orange
dots is high-end, high-end, atmospheric, dirt-resistant, durable, not easy to scratch, and has a
comfortable feel. Other colors may be customized later.
Finally, I have to highlight the Type 6 YJT-6 scenic spot code scanning coin operated telescope. This coin
operated telescope mainly features an extra-large 150mm aperture as one of its shining points, with a
specification of 40*150 and a magnification of 40x. In the entire domestic optical industry, there are very
few coin operated telescopes with a 150MM aperture. The larger the aperture, the more difficult the
technology and the higher the cost.
Another thing that others have not considered is that the instrument requirements for detecting large
coin operated telescope are also different. Many smaller manufacturers can only make telescopes with
an aperture of less than 50 by themselves, because their equipment is only suitable for small apertures.
Therefore, there are very few large binoculars with a 150mm aperture on the market now. Even if you see
them on sale, they may be imported brands with a price of more than 100,000 yuan per unit, or even
higher. Yuanjin’s own research and development and production are not only of excellent quality, but

designed and produced 10 years ago, but as a design for outdoor use in scenic spots, they will mainly be
put into major scenic spots, high-end office buildings, watchtowers, observation decks, borders, etc.
